Quick Temporary Fix For the XBOX Red Ring of Death
61What is the Red Ring of Death or RRoD?
The Red Ring of Death, also known as the RRoD in the gaming industry is a hardware crash detected by the XBOX 360 caused by overheating. What you will see when you turn on your xbox is three flashing red lights on your system where it normally tells you what controllers are connected. The reason that the XBOX 360 overheats over time is because of a faulty design when it was built. Microsoft did not put a big enough fan inside the system to properly cool the components inside. Thus, causing some of the internal components to fail over time. This does not happen to everyone and is not based on how often or how little you use your system. It is a random encounter that has mostly to do with airflow to your XBOX and the ability for the system to properly vent hot air. Though, using it more will cause an increase in the chance for the system to overheat.
What is this miracle quick fix?
Now this is not a fix for the problem, this is only a temporary fix that will last from a few hours up to a week or two depending on how lucky you are. I merely suggest this if you have to play while you wait to ship it to Microsoft to have it properly fixed or replaced.
What you will need - Towel, XBOX 360
Now some of you may know what is coming next, but for those that don't here we go.
What we are going to do is cause basically a system overload. We are going to make the XBOX think that the system has completely overheated on all levels. This should only be performed after you have received the infamous RRoD. Wrap your XBOX 360 in the towel completely so that no vents are exposed. You may have to use two or more depending on the size of your towels. Next step is to turn your system on, and leave it plugged in for at least an hour, more wouldn't hurt up to about two hours max. Once that is done, turn off your XBOX and remove the towel. Wait at least another half hour or so and turn it on and see if it worked for you. This is not a guaranteed fix though I have had great success with it. Plus, it will not void your warranty.

Very useful information! Nothing worse than a console not working!
